Krasnoyarsk State Medical University is one of Russia’s most prestigious medical institutions. It is situated in Krasnoyarsk. Krasnoyarsk is the easternmost Russian city with population of over one million people. It is a pretty compact city. From west to east the city length is about 41 km, from north to south – about 37 km. Krasnoyarsk is a large transport hub standing at the crossroads of the Trans-Siberian Railway and the Yenisei River waterways. The federal highway R255 “Siberia” (Novosibirsk – Krasnoyarsk – Irkutsk) crosses the city, as well as the federal highway R257 “Yenisei” (Krasnoyarsk – Abakan – Kyzyl – the state border with Mongolia). Passenger ships go to Igarka, Dudinka, Divnogorsk.
Krasnoyarsk has two airports: Yemelyanovo International Airport, the largest airport in Eastern Siberia, and Cheremshanka Airport. Direct flights to Athens, Hannover, Salzburg, Lisbon, Beijing, Podgoritsa, Salonika and other destinations are available.
Buses are used as the main form of transport. Also, you can find tram lines in the right-side part of the city, and trolley-bus lines – in the left-side part. In summer time, “river trams” run between the two banks of the Yenisei River. Since 1995, Krasnoyarsk underground is being constructed. Underground lines are deep: 60 m and even deeper. There are five bridges across the Yenisei River.
The largest city in Krasnoyarsk Krai, Russia, is also its administrative hub. It is the second-biggest city in Siberia after Novosibirsk, and it is located along the Yenisey River. More than 1.1 million people live there. One of the biggest aluminum producers in the nation, Krasnoyarsk is also a significant intersection of the well-known Trans-Siberian Railway. Author Anton Chekhov deemed Krasnoyarsk to be the most beautiful city in Siberia due to the area’s unparalleled natural scenery. Located 10 kilometers south of the city is the Stolby Nature Sanctuary.
